Global reporting

I hope you have all been keeping well. I do feel like I always apologise for not writing as often as I should on these blogs, but I seem to be increasingly busy lately (which isn’t a bad thing).

Last week I jetted off to the Czech Republic to visit Ball Aerocan’s Velim plant for a ribbon cutting event to mark its new expansion and aerosol can production line. The article will feature in CanTech International’s April issue and includes an interview with Stan Platek, general manager for Ball Aerocan and Jim Peterson, chief operating officer. The evening before the event I was lucky enough to enjoy a cruise along the Vltava river in Prague alongside other members of the metal packaging industry. Prague is a truly wonderful city and I will most definitely be returning – next time for pleasure.

The April issue of Food & Drink Technology will also feature an article of mine, from my recent trip to France visiting private label food manufacturer Agromousquetaires. The brand is planning on exporting its range of French cuisine-inspired products to the UK, and I am confident you will be seeing them on your local supermarket shelves very soon.

Aside from my travels, Katie has finished putting together the April issue of Confectionery Production which includes a major Interpack preview. Alex is currently going to press with his bumper Metpack April issue of CanTech International.

Outside of the office, Carly is currently in Wales attending the Taste Wales event that brings together exponents of the industry, from micro artisan businesses to larger manufacturing companies. We published an exclusive news story that was announced at the event this morning regarding a new £21 million programme to strengthen Wales’ food and drink sector that is expected to secure thousands of jobs. Find out more here. Be sure to keep tabs on our Twitter for updates from Carly (@FoodandDrinkTec) throughout the two-day event.

Suzanne returned from Brussels yesterday after attending the annual European Dairy Association conference. Boasting an impressive collection of industry speakers and conference topics, a review will feature in the upcoming issue of Dairy Industries International, promising to be an interesting read.

That’s all from me for now, I promise to try and not leave it too long next time. Take care.
