AsiaCanTech exceeds expectations
The Asia CanTech Conference in Bangkok has been heralded as a major success by organisers and delegates alike. The conference attracted many can makers from the Asia Pacific region as well as a large international gathering of equipment and materials suppliers from across the world. Delegates numbered more than 280 and the 60 wide ranging tabletops supplemented the 24 presentations and the well-structured and in-depth technical forum.
The rise in can making and consumption of canned products makes Asia an immensely interesting region to watch. In Thailand in particular, beverage can consumption is growing steadily and new innovations are constantly being brought forth, as highlighted by the site visit to Bangkok Can to view the new TULC line. The visit attracted so much delegate interest that extra busses had to be put in place and visitors had to be split into several groups on site. Delegates were hugely impressed with the level of cleanliness and the compactness of the installation as well as the environmental aspects.
Strong positive feedback was received about the interesting keynote presentations and the general presentations were well planned, flowed smoothly and were relevant to the issues facing the industry. Bill Smith from DS Containers commented: “It was a great show, and I am most pleased to have been a part of it.” The tabletop sessions scheduled after the presentations gave the opportunity to debate the topics raised in further detail. Most of the presentations can be downloaded in pdf format.
One of the key assets of the event was having the opportunity to network with all sectors of the can industry under one roof. "It was a key requirement to be there. You owe it to the industry and it makes sense to see more customers in one setting," said Ron Ragan from Roeslein. The venue provided a professional and positive business atmosphere.
The level of entries into the Asia CanTech Awards showcased some of the best aspects of the Asia Pacific region with new developments from China, India, Thailand and Japan, amongst others. Judges commented that it was rewarding to see the high level of entries. Chinese O.R.G won the Supreme Award with its Nuzhen Fresh Ginseng can due to the crisp graphics and innovative 113 diameter end as well as the general texture and appearance of the decoration. Please see the Awards page for a full list of the individual category winners.
Asia CanTech looks forward to welcoming you all to the 2008 conference.
